Embedded PC, fan less
design, only 13W max power for computer.., maybe 25W for
the screen, |

|
The design gives long lifespan, rugged design ,
still low weight. Around 665 gram for the CPU unit. (1

Audio: EFIS and PC
connected to COM radio that has built in vox/intercom
Alarms from EFIS/EMS instruments would be announced in
headset, also red lamp on panel to get my attention.
Music can be played true the PC as MP3 etc. Video
acceleration support moves for passenger if wanted. (backup
GPS map would be on my Pocket PC)
Phone interface in pilot side headset, so can also use phone
together whit the COM headset. COM trafic would mute music

PC and communication use in
the cockpit. |
| Panel communication: EFIS, GPS/Computer/COM
radio are hooked up to each other whit the PC as the master
unit.
This make it easy to controlling, upgrade, configure the
other instruments. From check list , to frequency list .
Also to Bluetooth communicate to my pocket PC and phone.
The low power consume of this solution would make me use it
for hours at time, even when engine not running. For route
planning, weather info, and airspace and airfield data etc.
(Well.. maybe I still keep my laptop in there behind then to
have some real computer power solution :-) , but fact is, whit
this baby ,,,I can even be online to my workplace via 3G, and
have acceptable view, screen resolution, to do some real work.
Connection would be SSL VPN and token, and web-based terminal
session. :-)
Mini-keyboard can be in the Map-box, or use the on screen touch
keypad.
